Depression – Conceptual in Matte Black
Depression – Conceptual in Matte Black
20 x 20 Acrylic & Pigment
Depression is a conceptual work acknowledging the millions who suffer silently, the shadowed silhouettes of their illness incubating in darkness.
Black Layer 1: Self
My scattered thoughts, emotions, experiences, and fears are laid down, using my fingers, moving my personal condition to a subconscious layer.
Black Layer 2: All who suffer
Hand-written in black, a second layer highlights common reasons and causes of depression.
Black Layer 3:
A final third coat represents the obscuration of people’s pain, some have a thick coat and hide it very well while others don a thin veil that allows others a glimpse into their struggle.
Spot in the Darkness
In the drowning sea of present contemplations, the spot represents future hope to which we cling. As the love and understanding of family and friends brightens our lives the spot will glow when charged with light, but will slowly fade over time, our minds reclaimed by the lurking shadows.
